Founded by Michael Larkins in Brisbane, Queensland, to build A.I that stays under the control of the business that uses it.
We build A.I team members and the open-source systems they operate — on infrastructure the customer controls. Australian infrastructure, storage and embedding by default. And the code is public, so you can read it before you run it.
Founded by Michael Larkins in Brisbane, Queensland, to build A.I that stays under the control of the business that uses it.
An Australian company, running on Australian infrastructure, storage and an embedding server. Where the model itself runs depends on the profile you pick.
Seven pre-built roles, ready to be customized and extended for your organization — engineering, audit, systems administration, sales, procurement, bookkeeping, project management — plus the software around them.
Four public repositories — the harness, the accounts system, the mail stack and the webmail. All four carry an MIT licence.
Founder, working with a software engineer on the team and a growing roster of A.I team members — and recruiting.
One address, read by the people who build the thing. No account team, no queue, no third-party ticketing system.
We started by building the stack we needed, then opened it. Every repository below is public. Every date is the day something was published, and where that was an article, the article is linked, so you can check it.
Michael Larkins starts Peristyle in Brisbane, to build A.I for owned workflows — owned data, owned process, local control.
The mail transport, the mailbox API and a Gmail-like web client are published — along with the article that explains how to run them, and how they retire a Google or Microsoft subscription in the process. Read the article
An A.I bookkeeper, and the software it operates, are published free and open source — invoices, expenses, payroll and BAS, with the agent’s own operating instructions bundled in as a skill. Read the article
Why, how and what: an article on empowering people with A.I rather than exploiting them, and on data sovereignty in an open ecosystem — the standard every repository below is held to. Read the article
The agent harness — memory in Postgres, one chat surface, agents isolated by schema — joins them.
Harness 0.1 is the first public release, announced with the reasoning for the design written up alongside it.
Seven A.I. team member roles ship as pre-built templates, a software engineer joins the team, and we are recruiting.
Everything we run the agents on is public, so you can read it, fork it and run it inside your own boundary. Every repository carries the MIT licence - here is exactly what is there, and what each piece does. The dates below are read from GitHub and refreshed every fifteen minutes, last checked 5 Nov 2026, 1:43 PM, so you can check them.
| Repository | What it is | Language | Licence | Last push |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| peristyle-ai/harness | The agent harness: Postgres-backed agent memory, one Flask chat surface, and several agents isolated by database schema instead of by process. | Python | MIT | 04 Nov 2026 |
| peristyle-ai/accounts | Bookkeeping for small businesses: invoices, expenses, payroll and BAS, with Fernet-encrypted personal data at rest. | Python | MIT | 03 Nov 2026 |
| peristyle-ai/mail | The mail transport and mailbox stack, with a REST API for local email management instead of SMTP. | Python | MIT | 05 Nov 2026 |
| peristyle-ai/webmail | A Gmail-like web client and installable PWA for the mail stack above. | Python | MIT | 04 Nov 2026 |
All four repositories are MIT licensed - read the licence in each repository, and email us if you need anything the licence does not cover.
Peristyle is built and run from Brisbane. Every profile we sell runs the Australian server harness, Australian data storage and an Australian embedding server.
| Profile | What it means for your data |
|---|---|
| Entry | Prompts are anonymised, and used for model training. |
| Private | Private inference, run outside Australia. |
| Maximum | Private inference, run on Australian servers. |

What would it take for A.I to be genuinely useful to an organization, without handing the company away in the process?
Michael has spent two decades developing products and services around frontier technologies. A.I is a new frontier that has the opportunity to be applied in many ways. Peristyle is the answer to the question: how can A.I be used to empower people and organizations rather than exploit?
Peristyle follows the approach we foster for our customers: people overseeing and working alongside a team of persistent A.I, with systems designed for both people and A.I to operate.
We are hiring for open-weights LLM engineers who want to work at the frontier of A.I integration into organizations. If that is you, contact us.
No account team, no queue. Your note goes to us.
